VISIT THORVALDSENS MUSEUM

Thorvaldsens Museum opened on September 18, 1848, as Denmark's first public museum building. The museum is dedicated to the world-renowned Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844). In addition to the museum building's unique architecture, you can immerse yourself in Thorvaldsen's many sculptures and explore his extensive collections of paintings and ancient artifacts.

Note that the museum’s permanent painting collection is currently unavailable. A small selection of paintings can be experienced in the exhibition Works & Days in the museum’s basement.
