Objects of Desire

JUNE 10 -12
10AM-6PM

United by a focus on material awareness, production quality, and design integrity, the Objects of Desire exhibition presents contemporary practices developed through considered processes and skilled execution. This exhibition establishes a platform which convenes a selected group of international designers and makers working beyond mass production. Designers explore form, technique, and detail through processes informed by material properties and production methods. The exhibited objects are the result of in-depth material research, technical expertise, and time–intensive development.

The exhibition features selected works from Birgitte Due Madsen, Boris Berlin, Bureau Parso, Corkinho, Corpus Studio, Edoardo Lietti, Eric Landon, Francesca Torzo, Gabriela Sagarminaga, Germans Ermičs, Kara Douwma, Kevin Hviid, Kim Richardt, Maison Arpelli, Rahee Yoon, Rasmus Fenhann, Sausset Leou, Seamus Kowarzik, Sofie Østerby, VAVA OBJECTS, and Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt. Each contributor represents a distinct design position, yet all works are connected by a shared emphasis on longevity, material responsibility, and considered production. The historic Thorvaldsen’s Museum, opened in 1848, offers a unique exhibition stage that encourages close viewing, reflection, and an appreciation of design values grounded in durability and relevance.

The exhibition can be experienced in the museum's grand hall and is free. You will, however, need at ticket to see the museum's permanent exhibitions and collections.
