Thorvaldsens Museum in the virtual world – everything is connected!

Welcome to Thorvaldsens Museum’s virtual world, which consists of the Museum’s new homepage, the education platform The Virtual Extension and the research database The Thorvaldsen Letter Archives.

Thorvaldsens Museum’s homepage has been given a brand new look and new functions that make it easier for you to find the information you seek.

This includes everything from practical information on opening hours and news from the Museum, to finding interesting new information on the educational platform the Virtual Extension or in the research database _ The Thorvaldsen Letter Archives_.

Completely new is also that you under the menu “Collections” can find information about works and pictures from all parts of Thorvaldsens Museum’s collections.

In the spring Thorvaldsens Museum was awarded Den Danske Museumspris (the Danish museum award), because the Museum in a new and consistent way had used information technology in all the Museum’s most important fields of work. The committee stated that the Museum had conquered the internet with its many virtual activities, and in this way had become a forerunner for other Danish museums. Den Danske Museumspris is awarded by the Bikuben Foundation.

This autumn’s opening is a further development of the award winning initiatives.

All the Museum’s virtual advances have been developed in co-operation with the IT and design group Oncotype.
