The Collections at Thorvaldsens Museum consist of Thorvaldsen’s own sculptures and his extensive collections of contemporary art of his time, of antique Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman objects, of other artists’ sculptures, his own medals, letters, books, personal objects etc.

The collections at Thorvaldsens Museum have for the most part been collected by Thorvaldsen himself. Every work and object in the collections has an inventory number, which begins with a letter followed by a number.
